BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo, The State University of New York wrestling team will open Mid-American Conference dual meet action when they travel to Eastern Michigan on Sunday afternoon.
The Bulls are hoping their success from the non-conference slate continues in MAC action. UB is 4-1 in dual meets, with wins over Davidson, Maryland, Springfield and Lock Haven.
Eastern Michigan will be a tough test for the Bulls as they, too, are off to a good start. The Eagles have defeated Clarion, Bloomsburg, Cleveland State and most recently shut out Michigan State, 34-0.
The last time out, the Bulls competed at the New York State Collegiate Championships on November 22. Kyle Akins and Justin Patrick, a pair of 125-pounders, each won their respective brackets. Akins won the 'A' flight while Patrick continued to improve, winning the 'B' flight.
The Bulls and Eagles have split the series, 5-5, going back to 2006. The teams last met last season with the Eagles coming to Alumni Arena and defeated the Bulls, 22-10, on February 15.
The match starts at 2:00 pm on Sunday at the Bowen Field House.
