
Khalil Mack Named to NFL Pro Bowl

BUFFALO, NY – Former University at Buffalo All-American Khalil Mack was named to the NFL Pro Bowl on Tuesday. Now a defensive end for the Oakland Raiders, Mack is the second former UB player to earn a spot on the Pro Bowl roster, joining former New York Jet Gerry Philbin who was selected in 1968 and 1969.
After a solid rookie campaign in 2014, Mack is in the midst of a breakout season. He leads the NFL in sacks with 15. He also has 62 tackles and two forced fumbles. He was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week on December 18 after having an astounding five sacks against the Denver Broncos. He tied Hall of Famer Howie Long for the Raiders franchise record for sacks in a game.
Mack was selected by the Raiders fifth overall in the 2014 NFL Draft after a standout career with the Bulls. Mack, the 2013 Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Year and Jack Lambert Award winner, finished his career holding the NCAA career record for tackles for loss (75) and forced fumbles (16).
The 2016 Pro Bowl will be played on January 31 at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii. The game will kickoff at 7 pm on ESPN.
