
Grant Qualifies for Olympic Trials

LAS VEGAS, NV – University at Buffalo, The State University of New York assistant wrestling coach Justin Grant placed seventh in the 275-lb. weight class at the U.S. Nationals/Trials Qualifier on Saturday in Las Vegas to qualify for the Olympic Trials. Grant qualified to compete at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Iowa City, IA April 9-10 with a chance to earn a spot on the U.S. Olympic team.
"This is great for Justin and our program," UB head coach John Stutzman said. "Just to know guys are reaching high levels out of our room is great for UB wrestling."
Grant, wrestling for the NYAC/BWC, defeated Matthew Meuleners of Titan Mercury WC, 7-2, to finish seventh. It was all he needed to do as the top seven finishers advance to the first stage of the Olympic Trials.
Grant had a superb three-year wrestling career at Bloomsburg University where he wrestled for Stutzman for two seasons. He graduated with a career record of 55-15 while earning two trips to the NCAA Championships at the 285-pound weight class. Grant is a two-time EWL runner-up along with a 2012 Olympic Trials participant while a member of the Huskies. He also earned two All-American honors following a seventh place finish at the U.S. Open Freestyle Championships and a sixth place finish at the University Freestyle Nationals.
