BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo, The State University of New York Athletics Department is teaming-up with the Hunter's Hope Foundation to help sell-out UB Stadium for the Bulls October 24th football game against Ohio. When fans order tickets and use the promo code "HOPE," $7 of every full-priced ticket will go directly to the Hunter's Hope Foundation.
Hunter's Hope was established in 1997 by Pro Football Hall of Fame Member and former Buffalo Bills Quarterback Jim Kelly and his wife, Jill, after their infant son, Hunter (2/14/97—8/5/05) was diagnosed with Krabbe Leukodystrophy, a genetic fatal disease of the nervous system. Hunter's Hope is committed to funding research for better treatments and ultimately a cure for Krabbe and other Leukodystrophies, increasing public awareness of these diseases, as well as newborn screening standards across the United States to obtain early detection and treatment, and providing hope and support for those affected by these devastating disorders and their families through the Foundation's Family Care Programs.
Beginning October 6, local radio personality DJ Jickster, a friend of the Kellys, has agreed to wear or hold a UB football helmet every day until the Bulls kick-off against the Bobcats on October 24 in an effort to promote the Hunter's Hope Foundation and UB Athletics.
"Hunter's Hope is excited to team-up with UB Athletics," said Jim Kelly, Co-Founder of Hunter's Hope. "We look forward to seeing a big crowd at UB Stadium to not only support the UB football team, but to help raise money and awareness to support families affected by Leukodystrophies."
Fans are encouraged to get to UB Stadium early to enjoy the family-friendly festivities of Stampede Square, including a free concert by rising country act Old Dominion beginning three hours before kick-off. To order tickets please click here.
