Women's Rowing Ends Fall Season on a Strong Note

FAIRFAX STATION, VA – The University at Buffalo, The State University of New York women's rowing team posted strong results at the Head of the Occoquan in Virginia on Saturday. It was the Bulls final event of the fall season.
The Varsity 8 boat led the way with a fourth-place finish out of 26 boats. Made up Courtney Donovan, Samantha Paige, Erica Tenteromano, Mackenzie Turpin, Jillian Michael, Meghan O'Brien, Erin O'Connell, Clare Costello and Colleen Patterson, the Bulls finished with a time of 18:40.69.
The Second Varsity 8 boat of Ally Mayo, Emily Sheetz, Madeline Sheffield, Juliana Gomez, Maddy Saporito, Elizabeth Shilling, Tracey Zajac, Ankita Kelkar and Sophie Wisoff finished 13th with a time of 19:38.11.
The Third Varsity 8 boat finished 18th with a time of 20:34.59. The boat consisted of Caeleigh Heavey, Sarah Brill, Anna Sviripa, Alexa Hillis, Taylor DeMoree, Joy Ene, Rylee James, Ellie Bortianski and Savannah Howland.
The Bulls took seventh out of 21 teams in the Novice 8 race. Alexandra Sinclair, Alexa Hillis, Veronica Czarnik, Graceanne Brown, Lindsey Carlsen, Hannah Annunziata, Allison Smith, Sara Jakiel and Hayley Nieves made up the boat that finished with a time of 21:41.17.
The Second Novice 8 boat of Janelle Arza, Elisabeth Good, Caterina Arnautova, Stephanie Busha, Kelly Behan, Victoria Nehls, Emma Ouweleen, Vanessa Mareno and Dania Abul-Enin finished 11th with a time of 22:03.24.
In the Varsity 4 race, the Bulls "A" boat of Melissa Stein, Samantha Paige, Mackenzie Turpin, Erin O'Connell, Meghan O'Brien finished seventh out of 31 boats with a time of 20:49.46.
The Second Varsity 4 boat of Marissa Scaduto, Emily Sheetz, Erica Tenteromano, Jillian Michael, Clare Costello finished 15th with a time of 22:02.43.
The race concluded the fall portion of the schedule for the Bulls. The season will resume in the spring.
