BUFFALO, NY – Sophomore Lamonte Bearden was one of five players named to the East Division Preseason All-MAC Team, the conference office announced on Wednesday morning from its league headquarters in Cleveland, OH. Overall, the Bulls were picked to finish in fourth place in the MAC East Division Preseason Poll, voted on by members of the media.
Bearden was named to the All-MAC Freshman Team last season, following a year where he played in all 33 games, making 31 starts. He led the MAC in assist to turnover ratio in conference games and scored a career-best 23 points last season against Canisius. Bearden had a 10-assist game vs. Cornell, becoming the first UB freshman with at least 10 assists in a game since the 2012-13 season. Bearden had 12 points and six rebounds in the MAC Championship game vs. Central Michigan and had at least six assists 10 different times last year.
The Bulls, who are the defending MAC Champions, were picked to finish in fourth in the MAC East, receiving 64 votes, just five shy of third place. UB did pick up one first place vote and one vote to repeat as MAC Champions.
UB will begin the year next Friday when it hosts Daemen at 9:00 pm at Alumni Arena.
