Wrestling Closes Out Successful Blue And White Match

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo, The State University of New York wrestling team closed out their annual Blue and White match on Saturday afternoon at the Ed Wright Practice Facility at Alumni Arena.
During the preliminary rounds, Jason Estevez defeated Rocco Russo at 141 by the score of 7-4 and then Sean Peacock won by decision over Brandon Lapi, 9-2. Tyler Rill won by major decision over Ryan Therrien, 17-5, Derek Holcomb defeated Rrok Ndokaj, 8-7 and Nate Rose downed Mike Silvis, 12-4.
In the finals, Kyle Akins started out the match with a fall over Corey Hollister. Bryan Lantry won by major decision, 15-6, over Blake Retell and then Jason Estevez toughed out a 9-5 decision over Sean Peacock. Sophomore Colt Cotten collected the 3-0 decision over Tommy Forte while Tim Schaefer defeated James Devine III at 157-pounds, 7-3.
At 165, Tyler Rill defeated Derek Holcomb by decision, 5-3 and Muhamed McBryde defeated Austin Weigel, 3-1. Joe Ariola looked good once again for UB as he earned the 8-2 decision victory over Brett Perry. Junior James Benjamin defeated freshman Nate Rose, 4-2, and then Jake Gunning closed out the match with a 3-2 decision victory over Ian James.
The Bulls will open up the 2015-16 season on Sunday, November 1 at the Terrapin Duals. The Bulls will take on Davidson and Maryland at the duals.
