ATHENS, OH - The University at Buffalo, The State University of New York wrestling team (5-10, 0-5 MAC) lost their fourth straight dual on Sunday afternoon on the road at Ohio as the Bobcats downed the Bulls 24-13.
"Common theme of the season once again this afternoon as 125, 133 and 141 all wrestled hard and won for us," said second-year head coach John Stutzman. "We have some pieces in place for the future which is exciting but we need to fight hard. Fighting hard cannot be taught, it is something that comes from within."
Starting at 149-pounds, the Bobcats got out to the early lead as #8 Tywan Claxton dominated Justin Cooksey, earning a 14-1 major decision victory. Ohio won the next two matches before Wally Maziarz put up a strong fight against former All-American and nationally ranked Cody Walters at 174-pounds. The two battled hard with neither grappler able to score in the first two periods, in the third Walters earned a escape to take the 1-0 lead and Maziarz was not able to get a late takedown for the win, falling 2-0 after earning a penalty near the end of the match.
Ohio continued to take control of the match, winning the next three weights to hold the 24-0 lead following the first seven matches. The young Bulls however, would not back down, winning the final three matches of the dual to make the score respectible.
Redshirt freshman Colt Cotten got back to his winning ways at 141-pounds as he earned his second pin in three matches over Joel Shump in just 1:59. After returning from serious injury earlier this season, Cotten has become a force for the Bulls in the middle of their lineup, improving to 2-1 on the year with a pair of pins.
Freshman Sean Peacock continued to wrestle at a high level for UB at 133-pounds as he won his fourth match in the last five duals. Peacock completely dominated Joshua Parrett as he earned a major decision, 16-2, victory. Peacock improved to 17-11 overall and 10-5 in duals while notching two pins and two major decision victories in his last four wins.

Soria started out quick as he earned a pair of takedowns in the opening period and entered the final period with the dominant 7-2 edge. In the final period, Soria earned another takedown and the riding time point to earn the 10-3 win.
UB will return to the mat on Friday, February 6 at Alumni Arena as they will welcome #3 Missouri for a dual which will begin at 7:00 pm. Entering this weekend, Missouri was one of four teams in the country with an unbeaten record, 17-0.
