
Buffalo Wrestling Announces 2014-15 Slate

BUFFALO, NY – A trip to the prestigious Southern Scuffle on New Year's day highlights the 2014-15 UB wrestling schedule as announced by second year head coach John Stutzman on Tuesday. With 16 duals and four tournaments, the young Bulls will face stiff competition all season long.
"I am very excited to announce the 2014-15 schedule," stated Stutzman. "With the addition of the Southern Scuffle, as well our MAC schedule, this once again looks to be a very challenging but beneficial schedule for our program. This schedule will allow our wrestlers to compete alongside the best teams in the country while giving our guys the opportunity to continue their development."
The season begins for the Bulls with a trip to Blues Creek, NC to take on Campbell University on Nov. 1. The very next day, UB will head to Boone, NC for the Appalachian State Duals as they will take on the host Appalachian State, Gardner-Webb and Cumberland.
To cap off the month of November, the Bulls will compete in three straight tournaments. The Oklahoma Gold Classic, which is held in Brockport, NY will be on Nov. 8 while the New York State Collegiate Championships will be held in Cornell on Nov. 22. UB will also take part in the Northeast Duals for the second straight season on Nov. 29 in Albany, NY.
The home MAC slate begins the following weekend, with a tough matchup against Kent State at Alumni Arena at 7:00 pm on Friday, Dec. 6. The very next weekend, the Bulls will welcome the Central Michigan Chippewa's to Buffalo with a home dual slated for a 1:00 pm start on Dec. 14.
Following a short winter holiday break, the Bulls will return to action with their biggest tournament of the season, the historic Southern Scuffle, being hosted by the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. The two-day tournament will begin on New Year's Day.
After facing some of the best competition in the country, the Bulls will then head to Cedar Falls, IA to take on conference foe Northern Iowa on Jan. 10. The following day, UB will travel to take on South Dakota State and Dakota Wesleyan. The Bulls will return home for the first time in over a month on Jan. 16 as they play host to Columbia, first match is slated for 7:00 pm. They will close out the month of January on the road with two straight conference road matches. UB will take on Old Dominion on Jan. 23 and then travel to take on the Ohio Bobcats in Athens on Jan. 25.
Buffalo will return home on Feb. 6 with one of their toughest home duals of the season as they will host two-time reigning conference champion, Missouri Tigers at Alumni Arena for a 7:00 pm start. The following weekend, they will travel to take on local rival, Binghamton on Feb. 13. UB will return home for their final home dual of the season as they will take on Eastern Michigan on Feb. 15 before closing out their regular season slate with a tough road dual against Northern Illinois on Fe. 20 in Dekalb.
With an experienced roster along with a nationally ranked 2014 recruiting class, the 2014-15 University at Buffalo Bulls will aim to make some noise this season in one of the top conferences in the country, the Mid-American Conference.
