UB Rowing Competes on the Charles River

BOSTON, MA – The University at Buffalo women's rowing team competed on Boston's Charles River on Saturday against Boston University and Rhode Island.
The Varsity 8 boat of Emily Glasgow, Heidi MacMahon, Melissa Ward, Samantha Paige, Hayley Franco, Justine Bottorff, Meghan O'Brien, Kaitlyn Koscielniak and Sara-Ann Fox finished third in their race with a time of 7:48.1. Boston University won the race with a time of 7:32.1
In the Second Varsity 8 race, the Bulls finished third with a time of 8:17.1. Rhode Island won the race and BU came in second. The 2v8 boat was made up of Alyssa Porter, Alexa Shoiock, Colleen Patterson, Mackenzie Turpin, Jillian Michael, Rebecca McGinn, Jessica Levy, Katie Coffin and Sarah Goodman.
The Novice 8 boat also finished third in a tight race. The Bulls finished with a time of 8:03.0, not far behind winners Boston (7:52.6) and second-place Rhode Island (7:54.2). The Novice 8 boat consisted of Ally Mayo, Kassandra Kimmey, Sydney Dudish, Katie Brown, Meghan Allen, Alexa Zeliger, Rylee James, Emily Garrison and Jessica Tomasello.
The Varsity 4 boat of Caeleigh Heavey, Allyssa Cotten, Nicole Ciesielski, Alyssa Gabel and Clare Costello finished third in their race with a time of 8:35.2. Boston University rowed a time of 8:22.0 to win the race.
It was a second place finish for the Second Varsity 4 boat of Courtney Donovan, Jordyn Phillips, Erica Tenteromano, Anna Lipinska and Jean Kang. The Bulls (8:40.1) finished just four seconds behind Rhode Island.
Next up for the Bulls is a trip to New Jersey to compete for the Knecht Cup next weekend.
