BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's rowing team added a pair of student-athletes during the spring signing period. Joy Ene and Mikayla Murdock will join Paige Krohn and Elizabeth Schilling, who signed back in the fall, beginning in the 2014-15 season.
Ene is a native of Queens, NY where she attends Flushing High School. She rows for Row New York.
"When I first arrived on campus, I noticed how big and vibrant it was," Ene said. "I liked how the girls on the rowing team got along and did everything together. The girls reminded me of how it was at Row New York. I also liked the academic side of things and the fact that so many people are there to help you academically. I visited other schools, but UB was the right fit for me both rowing wise and academically."
Murdock hails from Westerville, OH where she attends Westerville-North High School. She rows for Westerville Crew.
"I chose UB because the moment I stepped on campus it felt like my home away from home," Murdock said. "After learning more about the school and rowing team, I knew that UB would be the perfect fit for my academic and athletic needs."
"We are very excited to add Mikayla and Joy to our fall 2014 recruits, head coach Sandy Calfo said. "They both have natural talent that will help the growth and development of this program in the coming years. It's always refreshing to see young women who are passionate on the water and in the classroom and all four of our signees are a true representation of just that."
Krohn and Schilling signed with the Bulls in November. Krohn is from Detroit, MI where she rows for Grosse Ile High School. Schilling is a native of Westerville, OH and is a teammate of Murdock on the Westerville Crew team.
The UB rowing season continues for the Bulls on May 4 when they compete at the Eastern Sprints in Camden, NJ.
