UB Faces the Huskies and Uncertain Weather in Opening MAC Weekend

DEKALB, IL - The Mid-American Conference season begins on the road for the UB baseball team this weekend, with three games against Northern Illinois. Despite a 1-4 record in the five games coming into the conference season, the Bulls are 8-6 overall and own the MAC's top team ERA and batting average allowed.
Northern Illinois enters the conference season with a deceiving 2-15-1 overall record. It has faced some of the top talent in the country, including Minnesota, New Mexico, fifth-ranked Oregon State and eighth-ranked Cal Poly. While it may be the team's home opener on paper, the series has faced numerous changes due to a long winter in DeKalb. The series has been split between nearby Chicago State and Wheaton College, and the game times have been adjusted as well. Friday's game will now begin at 7:05 pm EST, Saturday will start at 6 pm, and the series finale will be at 2 pm.
In the last meeting between the two teams, Mike Burke threw a complete game four-hit shutout in the MAC tournament to lead UB to a 12-0 win. The victory eliminated the Huskies from the tournament. Five different Bulls had multi-hit games, led by Jason Kanzler's home run and double that would account for three RBI.
