BUFFALO, NY – The State University of New York, Buffalo wrestling head coach John Stutzman announced the signing of two high profile grapplers for the 2015 season. Tommy Forte and Justin Patrick signed their National Letters of Intent and will compete for the Bulls next season.
"I am excited to add these two young men to our program," stated second-year head coach John Stutzman. "They both possess a tremendous work ethic and will make an immediate impact in our program. With the addition of these two student-athletes we believe that we are setting ourselves up for future successes."
Forte comes to UB from Mishawaka High School in Indiana where he was a state champion and a three-time State Place Winner. He has recorded first, second and third place finishes at the State Tournament so far and is currently in his senior season. Ranked by many as a top-100 recruit in the country, Forte was a USA Folk Style All-American and in 2013 placed fourth at the Super 32 Tournament, the nation's toughest preseason tournament. He projects to wrestle at 149/157 pounds for the Bulls.
Patrick makes his way to Buffalo from the premier wrestling state in the country, Pennsylvania. The Kiski Prep senior projects to wrestle at 133 pounds for the Bulls next season. Patrick is currently a member of the Pennsylvania National Team and is a two-time PIAA AA State Place Winner as he earned fourth and fifth place finishes. He is also a National Prep Place Winner (fourth place) and took home fifth place at the 2014 Super 32 Tournament, splitting matches with New York top prospect, Nick Piccinni.
With the additions of Forte and Patrick, the youthful Bulls roster that consists of only two seniors will be set to make a run at a Mid-American Conference Championship sooner rather than later.
