
UB Women's Basketball Tips Off 2014-15 Friday at Alumni Arena

BUFFALO, NY – The State University of New York, Buffalo women's basketball team will play host to Siena in its season opener Friday in Alumni Arena. Head coach Felisha Legette-Jack's third season tips off at 5 pm as nine letterwinners return to the court for UB, as well as three newcomers.
The Bulls posted a dominant 89-54 exhibition win over local Division III opponent, Buffalo State, on Nov. 8. All12 Bulls saw time during the contest.
Picked to win the Mid-American Conference East Division, the squad returns 77.5 percent of its points and 83.4 percent of its rebounds from the 2013-14 season, the Bulls' finest showing in over a decade. Senior Kristen Sharkey and junior Mackenzie Loesing were named to the Preseason All-MAC East Team. Sharkey and classmate Christa Baccas have been named captains for the 2014-15 season.
The Saints also open their 2014-15 campaign tonight. Ali Jaques enters her third season as the head coach of the Siena College program having compiled a 22-40 overall record over her first two seasons. Jaques recently announced that senior guard Tehresa Coles will serve as a team captain for a second straight year and will share leadership duties with sophomores Meghan Donohue and Brianna Logan. The Saints, who were picked to finish 10th in the MAAC preseason coaches poll, were 9-22 in 2013-14. Coles and Donohue were named to the women's All-MAAC Preseason Third Team.
Siena leads the all-time series, 1-0, having won the inaugural matchup a season ago, 64-60, in come-from-behind fashion.
