BUFFALO, NY - Second-year head coach Bobby Hurley has announced the signing of two players to National Letters of Intent. The Bulls have added Nate Navigato and Nick Perkins and both will join the Bulls for the 2015-16 season.
Navigato, a 6'7" wing player from Geneva, IL, is a Beacon-News All-Area selection, who helped lead Geneva High School to its first regional title in 28 years last season. Prior to beginning his senior season, Navigato is already fifth all-time in career scoring at Geneva with 1,039 points. In one game last season, Navigato recorded a career-best 41 points.
Last season, he averaged 18.3 points per game on 52.6% shooting from the floor, including 40% from three-point range. More than just a scorer, Navigato is just 16 career assists shy of the program record as well entering his senior year.
"Nate is a very versatile post and perimeter player that is extremely skilled at shooting the basketball," said Hurley. "He has a high basketball IQ and is a winner and we are very excited to have Nate here."
Perkins is a 6'8" power forward out of Ypsilanti, MI where he plays for Milan High School. Last season, he helped lead the Big Reds to the Class B State Title, averaging 15.0 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game.
Perkins plays his AAU basketball for Michigan United and head coach Andre Gardette.
"Nick is an extremely skilled post player and he has great touch in the lane scoring the basketball," said Hurley. "He is a talented lefty that can also step back and hit the three-point shot. I have great confidence that Nick is a guy that will anchor our front line for many years."
Navigato and Perkins are part of the second recruiting class brought in by Hurley and his staff. The first class will make their collegiate debuts on Friday night as the Bulls host South Dakota State at Alumni Arena at 7:30 pm.
