COLUMBUS, OH – For the second straight year, University at Buffalo football standouts Branden Oliver and Khalil Mack will be honored by the Touchdown Club of Columbus. Honoring eight Mid-American Conference returning standouts, the 58th Touchdown Club of Columbus Awards Banquet will be held on Saturday night at the Lifestyles Communities Pavilion in downtown Columbus.
Oliver and Mack will be two of the "2013 Players To Watch" joining Kent State running backs Dri Archer and Trayion Durham, Toledo offensive weapons David Fluellen and Bernard Reedy, and Ohio's Beau Blankenship and Tyler Tettleton.
MAC Player of the Year Jordan Lynch (Northern Illinois) will be honored and Miami (OH) quarterback Zac Dysert will accept the Club's President's Award for his record-setting collegiate career.
Mack earned first-team All-Conference honors for the second straight season, and also was tabbed by Sports Illustrated as an honorable mention All-American. The Fort Pierce, FL native had 94 tackles, including 21 tackles for loss, again putting him among the nation's best in the category. Mack added four forced fumbles and eight quarterback sacks in 2012.
After earning first-team All-MAC honors in 2011, Oliver fought through numerous injuries in 2012, missing five total games and extended time in two others. When he was on the field, though, he was effective, rushing for 821 yards and five touchdowns. He averaged 5.5 yards per carry and 117.3 yards per game. Coming into his 2013 senior season, he is just 626 yards behind James Starks for the program record in career rushing yards.
