BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo (1-2, 0-0 MAC) wrestling team will open its conference play with duals at Kent State on Saturday and Central Michigan on Sunday. The duals are set for 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm starts, respectively.
The Bulls opened up their dual season last weekend at the Northeast duals, finishing with a 1-2 overall record. UB opened up with a dual against NC State and lost all but two matches en route to a 31-7 loss.
Buffalo responded well in their second dual of the afternoon as they earned first year head coach John Stutzman his first victory at UB. The Bulls dominated Sacred Heart, winning nine of 10 matches to earn the 37-6 victory.
In their final dual of the weekend, the Bulls were handed a 34-7 defeat at the hands of Clarion. The lone victory in the dual for UB came from junior Angelo Malvestuto, who finished the day a perfect 3-0.
Entering this weekends conference duals, junior Max Soria is the winningest Bull with 54 career victories including 19 dual meet wins. The junior also leads the team with 56 takedowns and 34 escapes in his career.
Malvestuto enters this weekend with a overall record of 7-5 and a dual record of 3-0. He was the lone Bull last season to pick up a victory against Central Michigan at 197 pounds.
