BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo men's basketball team, under first-year head coach Bobby Hurley, have been picked to finish second in the Mid-American Conference East Division, the MAC announced prior to the league's preseason media teleconference and was determined by a 25-member MAC News Media Panel. The league also announced that forwards Javon McCrea and Will Regan have been named to the East Division Preseason All-MAC Team.
The Bulls received 120 votes in the poll, second to Akron, which received 143 votes. UB did receive six first place votes and one vote to win conference tournament in March. The rest of the East Division went Ohio in third, followed by Kent State, Miami and Bowling Green.
The Bulls joined the Zips to make four of the five members of the preseason All-MAC team. McCrea, who was a first-team All-MAC selection last season, has picked up numerous preseason honors this year already, being named Preseason All-Big 4 and to the Lou Henson Preseason All-American Team.
McCrea is joined on the team by Regan, who was also a Preseason All-Big 4 selection. Regan will be playing his second season for the Bulls after transferring from Virginia following his freshman year. Last year, Regan averaged 11.1 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.
The Bulls return seven players from last season's team, while adding five newcomers to the squad in 2013-14.
UB opens the season next Friday at Texas A&M. Tip off in College Station is set for 8:00 pm ET.
