Novice 8's Bronze Medal Highlights UB's Day at the Eastern Sprints

CAMDEN, NJ – The University at Buffalo novice eight boat earned the bronze medal at the Eastern Sprints on Saturday to cap a very busy weekend for UB rowing. After competing at the Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia on Friday and Saturday, the Bulls crossed the river to compete at the Eastern Sprints in Camden, NJ for the first time on Sunday.
The novice eight boat of Katie Boniello, Sara-Ann Fox, Alyssa Gabel, Melissa Ward, Jessica Levy, Alexa Shoiock, Nicole Ciesielski, Stephanie Iannacchino and Jordyn Phillips finished behind Virginia and Bucknell with a time of 7:16.5 to earn the bronze.
Consisting of Kara Buchheit, Megan Klyczek, Bethany Cross, Veronika Kwinecki, Hayley Franco, Kylie Lewis, Amber Gurman, Jessica Ashbaugh and Haley Bryk, the third varsity eight boat won the petite final with a time of 7:15.3. The Bulls finished ahead of boats from George Washington, Boston College, MIT and Navy.
The varsity four boat of Katherine Evely, Margaret Lawn, Julia Hahn, Cornelia Willis and Katie Coffin qualified for the grand final where they finished fifth with a time of 7:43.6.
The varsity eight boat of Alison Sheehan, Rosa Kemp, Hannah Miller-Selzer, Jacklyn Postulka, Heide MacMahon-Manning, Kaitlyn Koscielniak, Shannon David, Sydney Gilchrist and Brittany Ronald qualified for the petite final where they finished fourth with a time of 6:41.6.
