Bulls Earn Harvey Cup with Win Over Eastern Michigan

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo rowing ream won the Harvey Cup with a commanding win over Eastern Michigan on Friday afternoon on the Tonawanda Creek. The Bulls swept every race on Friday, including the varsity eight race which secured the Bulls' sixth straight Harvey Cup.
In the varsity eight race, Buffalo's boat consisting of Alison Sheehan, Rosa Kemp, Hannah Miller-Selzer, Jacklyn Postulka, Heide MacMahon-Manning, Kaitllyn Koscielniak, Shannon David, Sydney Gilchrist and Brittany Ronald finished with a 6:56.79, well ahead of second-place Eastern Michigan which finished with a time of 7:32.40.
Buffalo won the varsity four race with a time of 8:14.30. The Bulls' boat, made up of Kara Buchheit, Veronika Kwinecki, Rachel Cuthbert, Gabrielle Ormond and Bethany Cross, topped the Eagles entry who finished with a time of 9:21.59.
The second varsity eight boat of Emily Glasgow, Danielle Carlino, Sarah Gallagher, Deborah Garth, Hayley Franco, Justine Bottorff, Francisca Strange-Sepulveda, Brittany Davidson and Elizabeth Murphy defeated Eastern Michigan by over 41 seconds, finishing with a time of 7:58.06.
Also competing today were the lightweight four boat, which cruised to a win over Dayton and the novice four boat which defeated Colgate by 12 seconds.
Dayton defeated Colgate in the other races of the afternoon.
Buffalo will face off against Dayton and Eastern Michigan will take on Colgate tomorrow morning. The races start at 9:00 am on Tonawanda Creek.
The Harvey Cup is named in recognition and memory of former Associate Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator Nan Harvey, who passed away in September of 2003 after battling cancer for over three years.
