
Bulls Drop 5-3 Decision at Ohio

ATHENS, OH – The University at Buffalo baseball team dropped a 5-3 decision at Ohio on Saturday evening. The Bulls couldn't overcome an early 5-0 deficit and dropped to 3-10 in Mid-American Conference play.
Matt Pollock went 4-for-5 to up his batting average to a team-best .370. The junior outfielder also drove in a pair of runs on his team-leading eighth home run of the year.
Ohio scored three times in the third and added single runs in the fourth and fifth innings to build a 5-0 lead.
The Bulls put a three-spot on the board in the top of the sixth inning. After Michael Burke led off the inning with a single, Jon Mestas drove him home with an RBI double. Pollock then connected on a two-run homer to cut the Ohio lead to 5-3.
The Bulls got the tying run to the plate in the eighth inning, but couldn't capitalize.
Anthony Magovney was strong out of the bullpen for UB as he pitched 3 1/3 innings of one-hit ball and struck out three.
The Bulls and Bobcats will meet for the final game of the series on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
