Cameron Copping Named MAC East Pitcher of the Week

BUFFALO, NY - After cruising to his third straight dominant effort against a Mid-American Conference opponent, senior righthander Cameron Copping was named the conference's East Division Pitcher of the Week. The Temple City, CA native is the first Bulls to win a weekly conference award since May 9 of the 2011 season, and he is the first UB pitcher to win since March of 2010.

Copping continued his roll through the Mid-American Conference season on Friday, throwing his third straight quality start and earned the win in a critical 3-2 victory over Akron. After allowing an unearned run in the fourth inning, Copping held the Zips scoreless until the ninth inning. Copping pitched 8.1 innings and didn't allow more than one hit per inning to the visitors until his final inning of work. He scattered six hits and walked only two batters while striking out eight Zips on the day, bringing his season K/BB to a commanding 2.8.

In his trio of MAC starts, Copping now has a 2.51 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP. For the season, Cameron leads the team with a 4.89 ERA and 56 strikeouts over 53.1 innings.

The team will have a jam-packed week, with a doubleheader Tuesday against Niagara and a Wednesday game against Canisius, with both at home at Amherst Audubon Field. Buffalo will then travel to Ohio for three weekend games against the Bobcats.
