HAMPTON, VA - The brackets for the 2012 Virginia Duals were released on Tuesday, with the Bulls drawing the Bucknell Bisons in the first round of the double-elimination duals tournament. The team is hoping to improve on last season's 2-3 record at the event
In the last match, the Bulls were unable to escape from an early deficit and fell to Edinboro 30-14. The team saw bonus-point wins at 157, 165 and 174 but could not erase the Fighting Scots' 16-0 open to the dual. The loss dropped the Bulls to 2-9 this season.
Bucknell currently sits at 2-6 overall with a 2-0 record in the EIWA. The Bisons have a dual Wednesday night at Old Dominion but will come to the Virginia Duals with both wins coming recently to conference rivals and a tight 21-12 loss to MAC power Central Michigan. Much like Buffalo, Bucknell is a young team that has been hardened by a challenging slate of duals. The active win leader on the team is Cory Lear (165), but he did not participate in any events during the fall semester with the team. Austin Miller (125) and Stephen McPeek (174) lead the team with 11 total wins each.
The winner of the opening-round dual, to be held at 11 am, will face the winner of the Kent State and Citadel dual at 1 pm. The losers of both duals will then meet in the consolation brackets.
