BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo rowing team has signed a pair of student-athletes to its lightweight squad. Raleigh Galbraith (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford-Mendon) and Hanna Victor (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) have each signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the Bulls in the fall.
Galbraith is in her third season rowing for Pittsford-Mendon High School. She was a member of the lightweight 8 boat that finished first in the 2011 New York State Championships as well as sixth at the 2011 US Rowing Youth National Championships.
Victor has rowed for the West Side Rowing Club for four years. She and her lightweight 8 crew finished first in the 2010 New York State Championships and third at the 2011 Royal Canadian Henley.
"Hanna and Raleigh will make a huge impact to our lightweight program next year," lightweight rowing coach Kerri Kanaley said. "They both come from very competitive programs and have rowed in some of the most talented regattas, including the Head of the Charles, the New York State Championships and the US Rowing Youth National Championships.
"Hanna and Raleigh bring a great amount of talent, but also a large desire to succeed in the classroom. I look forward to the fall when both young women will become lightweight Bulls and help us continue to strive for great results."
