
Men's Basketball Signs Raphell Thomas-Edwards

BUFFALO, NY –University at Buffalo men's basketball head coach Reggie Witherspoon has announced that Raphell Thomas-Edwards has signed scholarship paperwork and will join the Bulls this season. The Leicester, England native is entering his freshman year.
Thomas-Edwards is a 6-5, 230-lb. forward who attended The Gateway School and played for the Leicester Warriors. He averaged 25 points and 14 rebounds per game last season.
Thomas-Edwards was also a member of the British U-18 Team that played in the European Championships. He was his team's leading scorer and rebounder, averaging 10 points and 7.9 rebounds over the seven-game tournament.
"Raphell is a very versatile player who has the potential to help us in a number of different ways," Witherspoon said. "He has quick feet and is explosive. His international experience will accelerate his development."
Along with fellow freshman Xavier Ford, Thomas-Edwards will join a veteran UB squad that returns 10 letterwinners, including four starters, to a team that went 20-14 last season.
The 2011-12 season tips off on Nov. 11 when the Bulls host Saint Peter's at Alumni Arena.
