BUFFALO, NY – A pair of former University at Buffalo point guards have signed to play professional basketball overseas. Byron Mulkey will be playing in Morocco for AS Sale, while John Boyer will suit up for BK Decin in the Czech Republic.
Mulkey, a 2011 All-MAC Second Team and Academic All-MAC selection, had a breakout season for the Bulls as a senior. He averaged 13.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. His 85 steals on the year not only set a school record, but rank fifth in the long history of the Mid-American Conference.
Boyer was a 2010 Academic All-MAC selection. He led the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.70) to go along with 7.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game as a senior during the 2009-10 season. Boyer finished the year with 159 assists - the fifth best single season total in school history and the most assists by a UB player since the Bulls joined the Mid-American Conference in 1998.
Mulkey and Boyer join seven other former UB Bulls currently playing basketball professionally overseas.
