James Starks and the Green Bay Packers Visit the White House

BUFFALO, NY – Former University at Buffalo running back James Starks visited the White House and met President Barack Obama with his Green Bay Packers teammates on August 12. The Packers were being honored for winning Super Bowl XLV.
Hampered by a hamstring injury for much of the regular season, Starks broke out in the NFL playoffs and was a key component to the Packers' Super Bowl run. The Niagara Falls native rushed for 313 yards in four post-season games to help lead Green Bay to its first world championship since 1996. He also became just the second player in NFL history to gain 200 yards more in the post-season than in the regular season.
Starks was Green Bay's starting running back in Super Bowl XLV and rushed for 52 yards on 11 carries. The Packers defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers, 31-25, to win their xth Super Bowl.
Starks rushed for 3,140 yards and scored 37 touchdowns in just three seasons with the Bulls after missing his entire senior season to a shoulder injury. Starks was one of 15 former Mid-American Conference players to participate in the game, including Green Bay receiver Greg Jennings (Western Michigan) who scored a pair of touchdowns.
