BUFFALO, NY – UB's all-time leading scorer Kourtney Brown has signed a professional contract to play for Femenino Cáceres in the Spanish LF2 League. Brown will head overseas sometime in August with the season beginning in September.
"I am very excited to be continuing my basketball career," said Brown. "I look forward to improving my game and bringing all the things I learned at UB to professional basketball overseas. UB has done so much to mold me as basketball player and I can't wait to start the season off in Spain."
The 2010-11 Mid-American Conference Player of the Year, Brown finished her brilliant playing career by leading the MAC in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage and blocked shots. Brown is the only player in the country in the top 10 nationally in those categories as she finished the season eighth in scoring, fifth in rebounding and blocked shots and sixth in field goal percentage.
For her career, Brown finished as UB's all-time leading scorer, rebounder and shot blocker. She had 1,995 points, 1,124 rebounds and 260 blocks, which broke the Mid-American Conference record. She finished second all-time in the MAC in rebounding and is amongst the top 15 scorers in league history despite never attempting a three pointer.
Last season Femenino Cáceres finished tied for 11th in the 14-team league with a 7-19 record.
