Bulls Earn Two Medals at Dad Vail Regatta

PHILADELPHIA – The University at Buffalo rowing team may not have won their fourth straight Jack and Nancy Seitz Trophy at the Dad Vail Regatta, but a very a young UB squad still had a strong showing at the nation's largest collegiate rowing event. The Bulls had three boats advance to the finals with two earning medals.
The Lightweight Eight boat finished third to earn the bronze medal. Made up of Taylor Drozenski, Gina Giammichele, Emily Marshall, Cornelia Willis, Briana Reinecke, Megan Klyczek, Julia Hahn, Katelyn Hentz and Hannah Blackington, the Lightweight Eight finished with a time of 7:10.17. Bucknell won the race with a time of 6:59.20.
The Second Varsity Eight boat also earned a bronze medal by finishing third in the final event. Consisting of Alison Sheehan, Jacklyn Postulka, Kaitlyn Koscielniak, Hannah Miller-Selzer, Sydney Gilchrist, Sam Palma, Barbara Prescott, Kelsey Tretter and Elizabeth Murphy, the Bulls finished with a time 6:55.43. St. Joseph's won the race with a winning time of 6:49.19. UB finished just two seconds behind second place Bucknell.
In the semifinals, the Varsity Eight boat finished second in what head coach Rudy Wieler said was their strongest race of the year. The boat, consisting of Kate Evely, Rosa Kemp, Shannon David, Susannah Sage Green, Heide MacMahon-Manning, Brittany Davidson, Danielle Carlino, Brittany Ronald and Ashley Hanhurst finished with a time of 6:56.21, less than two seconds behind winner St. Joseph's.
The Bulls advanced to the finals and finished sixth.
The Bulls' Varsity Four and Pairs boats also competed in the semifinal race on Saturday, but didn't go any further.
