ST. BONAVENTURE, NY - After an early pitching duel, the Northern Illinois Huskies broke through with runs in the final four innings to earn a three-game sweep, winning 7-0 Sunday afternoon at McGraw-Jennings Field on the campus of St. Bonaventure. Cameron Copping took the hard-luck loss despite one of his best outings of the season.

There was little in the way of offense on either side, with Copping allowing two hits in the first six innings of the game, allowing a single run in the sixth after the Huskies manufactured a run with a walk, sacrifice bunt and single to go up 1-0. The game would be broken open in the next inning, though, thanks to a Buffalo error.

After another leadoff single and bunt followed by a wild pitch, Northern Illinois had another runner in scoring position with one out. After a groundout failed to plate the run, the team appeared to get out of a jam when the Huskies grounded to first base. The ball was misplayed, allowing the run to score and extend the inning. Another run scored to extend the lead to 3-0. The Huskies added three in the eighth and one more in the ninth to seal the game and the sweep.

The Bulls had four hits in the game, highlighted by Alex Baldock's 12 double of the season in a 1-2 effort for the day. The offense has yet to find consistency in Mid American Conference play, scoring only 16 runs through the first six MAC games.

Copping finished with 6.2 innings and allowed only one earned run. He gave up four hits and struck out five Huskies in a losing effort

The team will hope to play its first true home game of the season on Wednesday as Canisius (12-16) comes to Amherst Audubon Field. First pitch is scheduled for 3 pm and the Bulls (7-18) will look to avenge an extra-innings walk off loss at Canisius Mar. 30.
