
Bulls Sweep MAC Scholar Athlete Awards

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo swept the Mid-American Conference Scholar Athlete of the Week Awards announced on Friday. Ashley Zuber of the women's basketball team and Alex Baldock of the baseball team each took home the honor.
Zuber, a physical therapy major with a 3.74 grade point average, scored a career-high 18 points in UB's first-ever postseason tournament appearance. Zuber also grabbed six rebounds and dished out eight assists in the contest at Wright State. She finished the 2010-11 season with 198 assists, setting the school single season record. The senior ended her year with a 7.7 points per game average and led the Bulls with an 83.3 free throw percentage.
Baldock is a management major with a 3.63 grade point average. In five games during Buffalo's trip to North Carolina, Baldock drove in nine runs and added two home runs and a pair of doubles. In UB's 19-7 win at North Carolina Central on March 18, he was 5-for-7 with two homers and five RBIs and three runs scored. Baldock batted .435 (10-for-23) during the week. He also drew four walks in UB's 11-6 win over North Carolina Central on March 19, the most for a UB player this season.
The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during the week's competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference's faculty athletic representatives.
