BUFFALO, NY - Fresh off her school-record 39 points in a win over Oakland, senior Brittany Hedderson was named the Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday evening. For Hedderson, it was the second time she has earned the honor this season.
For the week, Hedderson averaged 28.0 points and 7.0 rebounds, but it was her performance against Oakland, which earned her this honor. In addition to her 39 points, Hedderson recorded her second career double-double with a career best 11 rebounds.
Hedderson broke a scoring record that had stood since the 1977-78 season when Regina Frazier had 38 points against D'Youville. The 16 made field goals were also a school record.
Earlier in the week, Hedderson had 17 points and three rebounds against Howard. She currently leads the team in scoring at 19.2 points per game. Her 2.6 assists per game are also tops on the team.
The Bulls return to action on Thursday when they face NJIT in Ames, IA in the first found of the Cyclone Challenge. Tip off is set for 6:00 pm EST.
