BUFFALO, NY - Coming off a stretch of four games in six days, the Buffalo women's basketball team will return to Alumni Arena for just the second time this season as it welcomes in Wright State Wednesday at noon for Kid's Day. The game will be a rematch of last season's Women's Basketball Invitational game that was won by the Raiders, 82-79. This will be just the second meeting ever between the two programs.
The Bulls started the week with a 79-59 loss on Tuesday to Syracuse, before heading to Storrs for the round-robin style World Vision Classic, hosted by the Connecticut Huskies. The team lost 94-74 to Dayton, 90-34 to second-ranked UConn and wrapped up the weekend with a 63-54 loss to Farleigh Dickinson. Sophomore forward Rachel Bantelman set new career highs of nine points and six rebounds against FDU while senior guard Brittany Hedderson averaged 17 points in the three games and now averages a team-best 16.6 for the season.
Wright State is 3-1 on the season with its only loss coming in its last game at Missouri, 92-62. The Raiders hold wins over Ball State, Delaware State and Western Kentucky. They are currently in a stretch of five straight road games. Wright State is led by Kim Demmings, who is averaging 18.0 points per game. Molly Fox is averaging 13.5 points and a team-high 8.8 rebounds per contest. Third on the team in scoring and second in rebounding is Shaunda Sandifer, who is averaging 9.0 and 8.5, respectively.
