BUFFALO, NY - The Buffalo basketball preseason kicked off in a big way Saturday night with Bulls Madness. An energetic crowd was on hand to meet the 2011-12 men's and women's team, including the nine new faces suiting up for UB this season. Student fans were able to join in with three of the four contests during the evening – a shooting contest, a relay race and the three-point competition.
In the shooting contest, the duo of freshman Xavier Ford and Brittany Hedderson got an assist from their selected fan to win the first competition of the night. In the women's basketball relay race, Beth Christensen and freshman Kasheema Besley teamed with another fan to win. Senior guard Zach Filzen filled it up in the three-point shooting competition, beating out last year's champ Tony Watson and women's sharpshooter Nicki Hopkins.
For the highly-anticipated dunk contest, senior Mitchell Watt followed up on his famous kick-flip dunk from last season by dunking two balls to win the contest. He received plenty of competition from sophomore guard Corey Raley-Ross in the finals, who put down a nifty between-the-legs tomahawk to give the judges plenty to think about.

The women open up with an exhibition against Buffalo State before starting with a pair of road games at Niagara (Nov. 11) and Duquesne (Nov. 14). The men's team will open the season in the friendly confines of Alumni Arena, against St. Peter's on Nov. 11 at 7 pm and against Cornell Nov. 16.
