Bulls Open MAC Play on the Road at Bowling Green

BUFFALO, NY - With the non-conference season coming to a close, the University at Buffalo will stay on the road to open up the Mid-American Conference schedule as it travels to Bowling Green to face the Falcons. The two teams enter the game with identical 1-3 records, with the Bulls coming off a loss at UConn and the Falcons losing to Michigan.
Junior Ed Young set career highs in receptions (3), yards (68) and touchdowns (3) to account for all of the Bulls' offense against the Huskies. Sophomore Steven Means had a monster game, recording two sacks and three tackles, 2.5 that went for a loss of yards. Means leads the MAC in total sacks with 3.5 for the season to date.
Despite the close of the non-conference season ending on a loss, Coach Jeff Quinn is excited for the start of conference play and the importance it holds for the team's goals this season.
"We still have both of our goals in front of us, which is to graduate every single student athlete football player here and compete for the MAC championship and that's what we're working towards this week, Quinn said. "I think just going back and thinking about the things that have happened over the past four games and over the last nine months, identifying the problem is one thing, but finding the solution is another."
One solution Quinn and the coaching staff hopes to find is a way to slow down the Bowling Green offense. The Falcons lead the east division in scoring and have put up 28 points per game so far this season.
"They can score points," Quinn said. "They have a good group of receivers and a scat-back tailback. Defensively they're very active and they're going to be a very solid group of players for our team to challenge."
Bowling Green's passing attack averages just over 256 yards per game and are led by Kamar Jordan, who averages 10 catches and over 100 yards per game. The Falcons lead the overall series record with a 5-2 advantage all time against the Bulls.
