
Bulls Shut Out by Gauchos, 4-0, at Lobo Classic

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – The University at Buffalo men's soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision to UC Santa Barbara on Sunday afternoon as the University of New Mexico's Lobo Classic came to a conclusion.
The Bulls (3-4) were outshot in the match, 14-6, as UCSB (2-2-2) scored two goals in each half.
UCSB, previously ranked in the nation's Top 25 poll, but after starting 0-2-2 fell out of the poll, netted the opening goal in the eighth minute as Tim Pontius scored following a corner kick beating UB goalkeeper Nick Fetterman. David Opoku added a goal in the 27th minute on a shot from the left side of the box.
The Gauchos took a 3-0 lead in the 66th minute on a goal by Sam Garza causing Fettterman to be relieved in net by freshman Jeremy Figler. Fetterman finished with two saves in 69 minutes of play. Christian Ramirez scored the final goal in the 87th minute.
Five Bulls were credited with shots on goal. Feras Samin, Sam Craven and Richard Craven were all turned away by UCSB keeper Sam Hayden in the first half. Ian Storan and Andy Tiedt had UB's second half shots on goal. UB also had two corner kicks in the contest while UCSB took three.
The Bulls are off for the next 10 days before they open Mid-American Conference play at Hartwick on September 28.
