Bulls Swept by Ohio in Conference Weekend Series

ATHENS, OH - The University at Buffalo baseball team dropped game three of its conference weekend series to Ohio, 12-5, as the Bulls were swept by the Bobcats on Sunday afternoon at Bob Wren Stadium.
In the top of the third, Buffalo scored the contest's opening runs to take a 2-0 lead over the Bobcats. Senior designated hitter Brad Cochrane hit a two-RBI double into right center to give the Bulls the lead. Cochrane's double was the 19th of this season, moving him into second place on the UB single-season list for most doubles.
The Bobcats erased the Bulls' lead in the bottom of the fourth with five runs to take a 5-2 advantage, including a three-run shot by left fielder Robert Maddox III.
Buffalo pulled within a run, 5-4, in the top of the fifth off a pair of RBI base hits by senior left fielder Bobby Pizzuto and senior center fielderAdam Skonieczki.
In the next three innings, Ohio extended its lead to 10-4 off five unanswered runs. Pizzuto added his second RBI single of the day in the top of the eighth to close out the Bulls' scoring.
The Bobcats added a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth to secure their 12-5 victory over the Bulls.
In 4.0 innings of work, starter Josh Edwards (0-5) recorded the Bulls' loss, registering three strikeouts.
Pizzuto and freshman third baseman Alex Baldockeach collected three hits with Pizzuto adding a pair of RBIs and runs scored. Senior second baseman Brad Agustintallied a pair of hits and three runs scored.
The Bulls (20-26, 6-15 MAC) return home to host Miami (OH) in their final home conference series of the season beginning on Friday, May 14 with the first pitch at 3:00 pm.
