Bulls Fall to Bobcats

ATHENS, OH – The University at Buffalo baseball team dropped the second game of a three-game Mid-American Conference series at Ohio with a 17-5 decision to the Bobcats at Bob Wren Stadium on Saturday.
The Bulls jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Brad Agustindoubled on the first pitch of the game and later scored on a two-out fielding error by Ohio left fielder Robert Maddox III.
The Bobcats countered with four runs in the bottom of the first, including a three-run homer by Gauntlett Eldemire. Eldemire finished the day with six RBIs and four runs scored for the Bobcats.
The Bulls plated their second run in the sixth inning when Charlie Karstedt brought homeJacob Rosenbeck with a two-out sacrifice fly.
UB scored three runs in the ninth for the final margin. David Neff led off the inning with a base hit and came home on Rob Lawler's fifth home run of the season. Tom Murphy later plated Agustin with a pinch-hit single. Agustin led the Bulls with three hits, including a pair of doubles.Alex Baldock added two hits. With his three hits Agustin became UB's all-time leader in career hits with 236, breaking the record of 234 set by Joe Mihalics in 2005.
UB starting pitcher Pierre Miville-Deschenes (3-6) was charged with the loss.
The Bulls (20-25, 6-14 MAC) complete the series on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
