BUFFALO, NY – After playing four straight road games, the University at Buffalo men's basketball team returns home on Wednesday night to host Niagara at 7:00 pm. It is the Bulls' first home game since November 20 when they defeated Towson.
Buffalo (4-3) split its four-game road trip with a mix of thrilling wins and heartbreaking losses. Buffalo opened the trip at Canisius with a convincing 81-64 victory over the Griffs. The Bulls then dropped a hard-fought 58-54 loss at Indiana State on Nov. 27. Byron Mulkey hit the game-winning jump shot with 12 seconds left to lift the Bulls to a 56-54 win over Army on Dec. 1. Unfortunately, the Bulls were on the losing end of a game-winning jumper at St. Bonaventure - losing 76-74 after erasing a 19-point second-half deficit on Saturday night.
Buffalo welcomes Niagara to Alumni Arena. The Purple Eagles are 2-6 on the year and are coming off an 82-58 loss at Iona on Sunday afternoon. Niagara is led by Antoine Mason who is averaging 16.7 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.
This is the 83rd meeting between Buffalo and Niagara. The Purple Eagles lead the all-time series, 55-27. The Bulls won the last meeting, 86-80, at the Gallagher Center last season.
The game will be televised on Time Warner Cable Sports with Ben Wagner and Howard Simon calling the action. Josh Whetzel and Pete Lonergan will describe the action on WECK 1230 AM.
Wednesday's game will also feature the first of six "Wing Wednesdays" during the 2010-11 season. The first 200 fans at this Wednesday's game, presented by Upstate New York Transplant Services, will be treated to free wings courtesy of Santora's Pizza Pub & Grill. In addition, five fans will face off in a wing-eating contest at halftime. The winning fans from the first five "Wing Wednesdays" will return on the final Wednesday of the season (UB Men's Basketball Senior Night vs. Miami (OH) on March 2) to compete for the title of UB's Wing King/Queen.
Tickets can be purchased online by clicking here, at the Alumni Arena Ticket Office or by calling 1-877-UB-THERE.
