Six Bulls Honored On Phil Steele's All-MAC Teams

BUFFALO, NY – Six Buffalo football players, including three first-team selections, were honored on Phil Steele's Mid-American Conference all-star teams.

Senior safeties Domonic Cook and Davonte Shannon, as well as junior punt returner Terrell Jackson all earned spots on the first team, while senior offensive lineman Peter Bittner, senior cornerback Josh Thomas and freshman linebacker Khalil Mack were all third-team members.

Cook, who ranks among the top ten in the nation in interceptions, made a seamless transition from cornerback to safety and finished his senior season by leading the Bulls in interceptions (6), passes defended (12), forced fumbles (3) and fumble recoveries (3) while earning All-MAC honors for the first time in his outstanding career. Cook also added 58 tackles.

Shannon capped arguably the greatest career by a UB defender by earning first-team All-Conference honors for a fourth straight time. The school's all-time leader in both total tackles and solo stops, Shannon led the Bulls with 120 tackles, while adding four interceptions and a fumble recovery. Shannon had double digit tackles in six games, while recording 15 tackles or more twice.

Jackson, a junior wideout, led the MAC in punt return average at 15.5, helping him to earn the punt return spot on Steele's team. Jackson had a season-long 58-yard return versus Temple.

Thomas was the Bulls' lockdown corner all season, while finishing sixth on the team with 58 total tackles, including 5.5 tackles for loss and a pair of quarterback sacks. Thomas added an interception and eight pass breakups while routinely defending the team's top receiver.

Bittner, who was a second-team All-MAC selection last season, started more games than any Bull in school history. The Williamsville, NY native started all 50 games in his career and helped Buffalo account for 17 touchdown passes, among the top ten totals in school history.

Mack, just a freshman, had a monster first season at outside linebacker. The Florida native recorded 68 tackles, third most on the team, and led the team in tackles for loss (14.5), sacks (4.5) and quarterback hurries (8). He also added two forced fumbles and 10 pass breakups while routinely spending time in the opposition backfield.
