Mack and Neutz Garner Postseason Honors

BUFFALO, NY - Following terrific freshman campaigns, wide receiver Alex Neutz and linebacker Khalil Mack earned spots on Phil Steele's 2010 Postseason All-Freshman Teams. Mack was named to the third team for defense and Neutz got the nod on the fifth team for offense. Mack also was a Honorable Mention member on College Football News' list.
After sitting as a redshirt in his first season at Buffalo, Mack erupted on to the scene and wreaked havoc in opposing backfields all season long. The Fort Pierce, FL native recorded team highs in both sacks (with 4.5) and tackles for losses (14.5). Even when he couldn't take down the ball carrier, he left his mark, hitting the quarterback eight times. He also excelled in coverage, with a team-high ten pass break ups. His 68 total tackles was third-most on the team.
On the other side of the ball, redshirt-freshman Neutz came in and helped his home-town team right away. The Grand Island, NY native had a penchant for making the big play, averaging almost 16 yards per catch while constantly wowing the competition with acrobatic catches. His 26 catches for 414 yards is the best for a first-year player since recent graduate Naaman Roosevelt's freshman season in 2006. Neutz also had four touchdown receptions and was named the team's Offensive MVP at the recent awards banquet.
