- Michael was Pizza Hut second team All American and ECAC all-star in 1986.
- Honorable mention All American in Pizza Hut and Associated Press balloting.
- Team captain as a junior and senior; MVP in 1985 and four-year starter at inside linebacker.
- Graduated as UB's all-time leading tackler with 402, a mark that stood for 10 seasons.
- Michael is the UB record-holder in assisted tackles with 265-39 more than anyone else.
- Led the team in tackles threes years and, at one point, held the top two UB records in tackles during one season (127 and 125).
- His 81 assists in 1985 and the 192 he complied through his junior year (career record) were UB marks at that point.
- Michael was a member of the UB intercollegiate Athletic Board in 1986-87.
