- Joseph, a Pennsylvania native, entered the Hall of Fame as a fullback on the Bulls 1958 team that finished 8-1 and captured the Lambert Cup as the East's top "small college" team.
- In 1989, he retired from the Ashland/North Schuykill High School, in Pennsylvania, as one of the most honored - and successful - high school wrestling coaches in the country.
- His teams compiled a record of 351-31-2, a win percentage 92%, and became the state's all-time winningest high school wrestling team, which also won 2 state championships, 19 league titles, 8 district crowns, 5 regional titles, and had 8 undefeated seasons.
- From 1980-89, Joseph's teams were ranked among the top 20 high schools squads in the country.
- Joseph was named Wrestling Magazine's Coach of the Year in 1983 and 1989 and was 4-time coach of the year in Pennsylvania.
- He is enshrined in several Halls of Fame, including the National Wrestling Hall, the National High School Hall, and the Pennsylvania Wrestling Hall.
