John Eschenfelder has the distinction of being the first Buffalo wrestler to win a MAC championship.
- A member of the UB wrestling team from 1996-2001, Eschenfelder was the conference's heavyweight champion in 1999 and 2001.
- A two-time national qualifier, he ranks 15th in program history in career overall wins with 83 as well as 13th in program history in career dual wins with 38.
