- Jane Poland coached what was one of the most successful sports programs in the history of women's athletics at UB. Jane's bowling teams captured 7 straight New York State titles in the Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (which was the national women's collegiate athletic association in the 1970s and 1980s).
- In 3 years of competition in the National Collegiate Team Bowling Championships, the UB keglers were 2nd, 3rd, and 6th. From 1978 through the 1980 season, UB was never ranked lower than 6th, nationally, and the Bulls bowlers captured 1 national crown.
- Jane Poland's contributions to the advocacy of women's athletics didn't end with her tenure (1970-1980) as bowling coach. She also coached women's golf from 1971-1974.
