Ed Wright

Ed Wright is a pioneer in the sport of hockey.
- He served as head coach of the men's hockey program from 1970-81, 1986-87, and in doing so, became the nation's first African-American head coach of a collegiate hockey program.
- He led the Bulls to 138 wins over his career, including six winning seasons.
- Following his coaching career, he remained at UB as an administrator until his retirement in 2012.
- Wright is credited with forming UB's recreation and intramural program.
