Ed Wright

Ed Wright is a pioneer in the sport of hockey.

He served as head coach of the men's hockey program from 1970-81, 1986-87, and in doing so, became the nation's first African-American head coach of a collegiate hockey program.

He led the Bulls to 138 wins over his career, including six winning seasons.

Following his coaching career, he remained at UB as an administrator until his retirement in 2012.

Wright is credited with forming UB's recreation and intramural program.
