David J. Hickson

1984-87 (BS '87)
- A 2 sport athlete and one of the most-respected and talented members of the UB wrestling team, David epitomized the term "student-athlete" earning the ECAC Medal of Merit in 1987.
- David was one of only 2 athletes to serve as a team captain for 3 seasons.
- He is a 2-time All-American.
- Wrestling at 150 pounds, David placed 6th and 4th at Division III NCAA Championships in 1985 and 1987 respectively. In his senior year, he gave up only 3 points in dual meet matches, and was named team MVP and led the BUlls to a 5th place finish (among 71 schools) in the NCAAs, as well as the SUNY crown.
- Also in 1985, he was chosen by the NCAA Division III Wrestling Coaches Association to an all-star team to represent the United States in international competition at the Olympic Village in Mexico City, where he captured 2 gold medals.
- David is a proud 2-time letterwinner in football and starting Strong Safety on the 9-2 UB Bulls team of 1986.
- David was inducted into the State Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame in 2008, he had become one of the most respected college referees in the country, earning the #1 ranking in multiple Division I NCAA Championships.
