Defensive end Kobe Stewart led the conference with 9.5 sacks, the most by a UB player since Khalil Mack had 10.5 sacks in 2013. Stewart was a second-team All-MAC selection.
Morris, who was a team captain for Coach Lembo at Ball State, came to Buffalo from Ball State where he was the Cardinals’ defensive line coach in 2023. Morris serves as defensive line coach as well as run game coordinator.
He helped lead a Ball State defense that ranked second in the Mid-American Conference in total defense (315.8) and rushing defense (111.6) in 2023.
Prior to Ball State, Morris spent three seasons as defensive line coach at Eastern Illinois. During the 2021 season, he mentored the Ohio Valley Conference’s leader in tackles for loss in all-conference second-team selection Jordan Miles.
Along with his responsibilities as the defensive line coach, Morris was also involved in EIU’s game preparation. He helped organize the defensive run scheme, broke down and analyzed opponents’ pass protection tendencies, and contributed to weekly third-down blitz packages.
In 2020, Morris served as co-offensive coordinator, offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator at DePauw University. His 2020 recruiting class helped the Tigers win the first two North Coast Athletic Conference championships in program history.
Prior to joining the collegiate ranks, Morris was an accomplished high school head coach. He led Muncie Central High School to consecutive winning seasons in his two years as head coach. The 2016 squad finished the year with a 7-4 mark and won a playoff game for the first time since 2006.
Morris also served as head coach for two seasons at Hamilton Southeastern High School.
Morris is a 2013 graduate of Ball State with a bachelor's degree in education. A four-year letterwinner for the Cardinals, he was a team captain in 2011. He finished his career with 84 tackles, including 12 tackles for loss and four sacks.
A native of Dublin, Ohio, Morris returns to Muncie with his wife, Jessica, and two children, Jayde and Jordan.
