BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo football head coach Pete Lembo has made two additions to his support staff. Will Brandau is returning to the program as Director of Football Analytics and David Bonacquisti is joining the staff as Director of High School Relations.
Brandau served as Director of Football Analytics for the Bulls as an undergraduate student and played a key role in Coach Lembo's game-day decision making in his first season. He was a valuable asset in Buffalo's 9-4 campaign and Bahamas Bowl victory in 2024.
After graduating from UB, Brandau accepted a Football Analytics Intern position with the Green Bay Packers for the 2025 campaign. Among his duties included creating scouting reports, managing script and play result data at practice and maintaining and expanding a database to accommodate growing team data needs.
Along with serving as Director of Football Analytics, Brandau will also be pursing his PhD in Operations Research in UB's School of Engineering.
"Will was an incredible resource for our coaching staff in 2024, during his last year as an undergraduate," Lembo said. "He has a gift for studying analytics and presenting his findings to the coaches in a palpable way. We are excited to have him back after a productive year with the Packers as he pursues his PhD from the University."
Bonacquisti brings over 40 years of football coaching experience to UB, most recently serving as offensive line coach and defensive coordinator at Iroquois High School.
He also spent 11 seasons as an assistant on the Orchard Park High School football staff, helping lead the Quakers to nine Section VI titles and a state championship in 2011.
"Dave had a long and successful career as a high school coach in Western New York," Lembo said. "He is passionate about the football in this area and has built incredible relationships with people in Buffalo. He will be a great asset as we grow our summer internship program, summer camps and, of course, helping to recruit the local area."
