CLEVELAND, OHIO – The Mid-American Conference announced on Wednesday that Marialis Kwak of the University at Buffalo swimming and diving team has been named the MAC Diver of the Week for the sixth time this season.
Kwak has now tied the program record for the most Athlete of the Week awards in a single season. The senior ties diver Victoria Franz, who earned the honor six times just last season. Kwak also now ranks second in career Athlete of the Week awards with seven in her four years at Buffalo, only trailing Franz (14).
Across the MAC this season no other women's diver has earned the honor more than twice.
Kwak earned the award following another strong weekend in the diving well, winning both one-meter (294.45) and three-meter (314.80) diving in a two-day tri-meet at Bowling Green and Toledo. The senior took first place in both events across a field of 17 divers. Kwak has now won all 15 individual diving competitions that she's competed in this season, seven three-meter, seven one-meter and one platform diving competition.
A full recap of the tri-meet can be accessed here.
The Bulls are set to host the Mid-American Conference Championships in the Alumni Arena Natatorium from Wednesday, February 26th through Saturday, March 1st. All championship information can be found here. To purchase tickets, click here.
